14th Innovation Forum for Automation is a huge success

Automation Network Dresden (AND) is proud to host the 14th annual Innovation Forum for Automation in Dresden, the Saxon state capital. More than 200 national and international guests from the commercial, industrial and research sectors came to Dresden to exchange insights on the latest technologies, new developments in automation and the future of Industry 4.0.

As a regional network of leading companies in the field of industrial automation, AND members include the Dresden-based Fabmatics, AIS Automation, SYSTEMA and XENON Automation. This year's impressive lineup of speakers includes established company names such as Robert Bosch, Continental, Meyer Burger, Infineon, Texas Instruments, Globalfoundries and Leopold Kostal. Their presentations not only showcased the latest automation solutions, they also offered a variety of views on the future of Industry 4.0-based applications. A subsequent meet-and-greet enabled participants to mingle and discuss their ideas informally.

By invitation from XENON, Dr. Kreißig of Continental AG and Mr. Schmidt (standing in for Dr. Erfurt) of Meyer Burger AG in Germany elaborated on their innovative products: a fully active Piezo actuator for injectors (Continental), the hetero-junction cell (Meyer Burger), and XENON's methods to develop and integrate these components into intelligent automation solutions. Several speakers explicitly highlighted XENON for its excellent cooperation as a strategic partner in the implementation of complex and technologically demanding industrial engineering Solutions.

As is traditional, managing directors from all AND member companies gathered for an award ceremony at the end of the first conference day – this time at the historic Kasematten-Gewölbe under Brühl's Terrace in Dresden – with this year's the annual Innovation Award going to Limbach-based automotive supplier Continental AG for its automated production of miniaturized Piezo actuators.

Event organizers are pleased to see this year's Innovation Forum to a successful conclusion as they look forward to upcoming new projects in the field of automation. In that spirit, interested parties are cordially invited to visit Dresden for the 15th Innovation Forum in 2018.
